プログラム内容/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION：
最近の研究で分かってきたのは、異文化に接する時の重大要因は、文化の違いに対する好奇心である、ということである。この「好奇心」というのは、いったい何なのだろうか。それは、どうやって学べばいいのか。いかに教育するのか。今回は、次のような内容について述べる。

• 好奇心は、異文化体験をどのように高めてくれるのか。
• 健全な好奇心というものは、どうやって教育できるのか。
• どんな教育やトレーニングが、好奇心を高めるのか。
• 内省的観察力をつけるには、どのようなスキルが必要か。

Recent research has suggested that the key variable in effective intercultural interaction is curiosity about cultural differences. Just what is this “ curiosity”? How can we learn about it? How can we teach about it in our classes? This evening session will explore:

• How does curiosity enhance intercultural experience?
• How can we educate our learners to be respectfully curious?
• What kinds of teaching and training activities can promote curiosity?
• What skills are necessary for reflective observation?

講師/PRESENTER：
ジャネット・ベネット博士はアメリカ、オレゴン州ポートランドにある ICI 異文化コミュニケーション研究所のエグゼクティブ・ディレクター。また、 ICI とパシフィック大学大学院が提携して行っている異文化関係学の修士課程のディレクターでもある。異文化コミュニケーションの分野の著名な先駆者の一人として知られており、教育、研修、コンサルティング、にかかわる人々を対象に、理論と実践両面の専門家として活躍している。

Dr. Janet M. Bennett is executive director of the Intercultural Communication Institute (ICI) in Portland , Oregon , and director of the Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Relations jointly sponsored by ICI and the University of the Pacific. She specializes in developing theory and training design for individuals who teach, train or manage across cultures.

場所案内/How to get there?:
麗澤大学東京研究センター(新宿アイランド．タワー4階／新宿区西新宿 6-6-1)。アイランドタワーは、丸の内線西新宿駅と直接つながっています。JR新宿駅からは、徒歩10分です。低層階行のエレベーターに乗り、4階で降りて廊下を右へ進んでください。左側一番奥のドアが、麗澤大学東京研究センターの入り口です。

i-Land Tower can be accessed directly from Nishi-Shinjuku Station on the Marunouchi Line by following the underground path. From JR Shinjuku Station it is approximately a 10-minute walk. Once you get to the building, select an elevator that stops on the 4th floor. After you get off on the 4th floor, walk to the right until you get to the last door on your left.
